Volunteer Feedback

The experience of helping others is great. But the transport fee is not covered as promised.

We could have done with being given some written information / maps before leaving the meeting room. Only the team leader was given a map, which wasn't much use when we were not with the team leader and trying to give information. We eventually found maps in the Information tent, but not till after the race had started, and it was really in the couple of hours before the race that people needed directions and information. I had emailed before the event to ask if we were expected to print off what we thought might be relevant, or if we would be given what we needed. I did not receive a reply to my email, so decided not to print anything because I fully expected to be provided with basic information in order to answer questions. Because we were told we were going to be provided with high vis jackets, I deliberately only wore a thin jacket so the high vis would fit over the top. We were actually provided with high vis vests, so got very cold. I did not enjoy the experience as much as being an Olympic Ambassador, but that was partly because I was a Zone Manager, and also the fact that we worked at Old Trafford on several days meant that I got to know all my team really well and that we grew into our roles throughout the period. Thank you for the T shirt - I really like it - marks the occasion without being brash. Thanks also for the packed lunch, and for realising that some people are vegetarians - lunch was very welcome. NB my computer screen says 4.5 hours to log, but I did the first shift which was 6:30 - 11:30 so 5 hours to log.
